St. Nicholas Images

St. Nicholas comes in all shapes and sizes.  These images of the mysterious Christmas Eve visitor are representative of the 144 color and 80 black/white illustrations to be found in The Night Before Christmas: A Descriptive Bibliography of Clement Clarke Moore's Immortal Poem, by Nancy H. Marshall. Dates only are given when the illustrator is unknown.

Santa's beloved eight reindeer used to anchor the four corners of each page on this website are from a circa 1940s Raphael Tuck & Sons edition published in Great Britain, with illustrations by Molly Benatar. The animations were made possible by using two different sets of illustrations for the activities of the coursers. Every effort has been made to locate the responsible parties to seek permission for the use of these images, so far to no avail.
